Sheldon Lavin is the Chief Executive Officer of OSI Group, LLC. He also serves the company’s chairman. His experience dates back to when he first joined OSI Group almost four decades ago. Back then, the company run by the name Otto and Sons. He is the President of OSI International Foods Ltd and also the General Trustee of Rush University Medical Center.
Mr. Sheldon Lavin is a finance and accounting degree holder, and he initially owned a consulting firm which drove him to engage with OSI Group, where he later worked and accelerated its growth to where it currently stands.
With the company’s rich history and Sheldon being the steward, the group has realized an exponential growth. In one of his interviews, he noted that since he got involved with OSI Group, he has steered the company into the global market. With plans of wanting to better its services and improve safety as well as a worldwide reach, OSI Group made several acquisitions under him.
The year 2016 marked a major milestone for the company. It acquired Tyson production plant in Chicago to increase OSI’s storage space and cater to one of its nearby facilities. It also acquired the Dutch Baho Foods to increase the production and supply of meat products in Netherlands and Germany and the UK Flagship Europe. This last acquisition was to increase the distribution of poultry and other products in Europe and the United Kingdom.
Focusing on large financial dealings and a determination to drive OSI Group to become the world leader has seen him and the company win prestigious awards. In 2016, he won the Global Visionary Award, which was offered by India’s Vision World Academy. The award aims at recognizing visionary individuals with significant contributions to the humankind.
OSI Group, on the other hand, won the Globe of Honor from the British Safety Council. This was in recognition of the company’s efforts in environmental management and safety risks.
Noting that determination was deeply engraved in his DNA, he marvels at the far he has come and the company as well as its employees that he has helped change their lives. He says that OSI Group is run like a family and everybody matters.
In 2016, OSI was joined by Amick Farms. The integration saw Amick become one of the few largest producers of meat in the world. That said, still, under Sheldon Lavin, OSI Group is only bound to grow and scale better heights.
