On September 9th, 2017, the School of Fashion at the Academy of Art University held its 21st runway show for New York Fashion Week at Skylight Clarkson Square in New York City. During the show, ten designers, who are recent graduates of the university, presented five womenswear and two menswear collections. Two of the collections were collaborations amongst the designers. The designers come from a diverse background ranging from Thailand to Maine, but they came together to create pieces with amazing silhouettes and techniques that wowed the judges. The judges for the showcase included the infamous Ms. J Alexander from America’s Next Top Model and Sara Kozlowski, Director of Education and Professional Development at the Council of Fashion Designers of America. The designers have taken years of classes and internships to prepare for those 15 minutes in which their designs were showcased on the runway. Those 15 minutes basically determined their future in fashion.
