CLAYTON HUTSON IS BECOMING THE GO-TO PRODUCTION MANAGER FOR TODAY’S MUSICIANS (UPDATE)

WORKING TO STRENGTHEN THE MUSIC INDUSTRY

Clayton Hutson is making his presence felt in today’s music industry. Although especially passionate about music from the rock genre, Clayton has worked with musicians and live entertainers from many different backgrounds over the years. Holding positions ranging from sound engineer to production manager, he has worked on tours for big names like Halsey, Kelly Clarkson, and Guns N’ Roses, as well as for large corporate companies and events.

Recently Clayton sat down with Blogwepdia to share some insight into what has made him successful. He stated that he believes his success are in large part because of his attention to detail; Clayton knows exactly how he envisions the delivery of any event long before he gets to the venue. He also feels that another key to success is to surround himself with a team that he can trust, allowing the delegation of responsibility to his crew and reserving his focus for the most important tasks.

Hutson has had a passion for music from a young age, which led him to the career he has today. A graduate of Central Michigan University, where he earned a degree in Theatre Design and Technical Production, Clayton also worked as many events as he could throughout his years in school, getting involved by setting up equipment, driving equipment trucks, handling lighting, and performing audio duties. Since that time, Clayton has worked solidly in the music and events industry for nearly twenty years, primarily as an independent contractor. Currently Clayton is the head rigger for Tim McGraw and Faith Hill’s “Soul2Soul” tour; the tour is making stops all across the United States and Canada, in addition to a few key appearances in the United Kingdom.

FACING TOUR CHALLENGES

Ravi Mandalia of The Reporter Expert recently credited Clayton Hutson with being a major contributor the to the success of Kid Rock’s 2018 The American Tour, shedding some light on the background and the obstacles that Clayton Hutson faced as Kid Rock’s Stage Manager. Clayton credited his prior experience as both a Stage Manager and Production Manager in helping him to diffuse the many obstacles the tour faced. During interviews at the time of the tour, he always remained confident and stated that he embraced the challenges these big shows delivered. It seemed to pay off, because when all was said and done and each show time arrived, millions of fans still came out to support Kid Rock on his tour dates despite all of the earlier obstacles. Clayton’s professional handling of these situations are likely a big reason he has been invited back to production manage the second part of Kid Rock’s 2018 tour.

Having had the opportunity to work with a number of big-name artists over the years, Clayton praises those artists who he feels utilizes evolving technology equipment to push their form of art, going beyond their music and expressing themselves through aspects of their shows like stage design. He excitedly shared in a recent interview just how cutting-edge the industry is, yet also warned that it’s an industry where getting too comfortable can lead one to become obsolete. This is especially true for show equipment, where the technology is continually getting more mobile, faster, and brighter. In this industry where the trends are ever-changing, Clayton does everything within his power to stay current on these changes.

Clayton Hutson credits his high demand to his work ethic, stating that he continually works hard while maintaining attention to all details. Alongside his strong work ethic, Clayton embraces long days and staunchly believes in safety first, organizing and setting up gear and equipment in the most effective and secure way for each event he manages. Clayton’s solid work ethic and attention to detail, combined with his earlier mentioned willingness to embrace technology and equipment changes, have made him a highly sought-after stage and production manager.

In addition, the artist also relied on Clayton’s musical expertise to ensure the sound and engineering of the performance was top notch.

In addition to his work as a production manager, Clayton Hutson is also an accomplished live sound engineer. Working with the top artist from many different genres of music, Clayton has helped put together some of the most memorable performances of the past few decades. During the Arron Lewis tour, Clayton brought along the very first SD11 console on the road. The console was the first of its kind to go out on the road and was a great success. This equipment choice is just one example of the deep knowledge of musical engineering and mixing that an experienced production manager can brings to his clients.

Some additional live show credit for Clayton also includes monitors, production management, stage design, and lighting design for the 2014 “Appetite for Democracy 3D: Live at the Hard Rock Casino Las Vegas” for the hard rock band Guns N’ Roses. Clayton is involved in every part of the live show process from the idea phase to the budgeting to the execution. As a creative live event producer, Clayton Hutson knows the complicated challenges that can arise from any live show and works hard towards finding the solution that not only satisfies the artist’s vision but can be executed within the desired budget.

All of this experience is what has lead Clayton to where he is today: owning and operating his own live event production company, Ronin Event Creative. With a wide array of services available, the growing company has worked with many artists on a number of tours of all sizes and budgets. Clayton is confident that the unique nature of his production company, combined with the incredible array of services offered and his personally accomplished background, will continue to ensure a high demand and a bright future.
