Career and Philanthropy of James Dondero

The Dallas businessman and philanthropist James Dondero founder of Highland Capital Management L.P. and Highland Dallas Foundation, Inc. continue to give back to his community and make Dallas a better place to live. Mr. Dondero started off his professional career at JP Morgan in 1984 after receiving two Bachelor of Science degrees in Accounting and Finance. He continued his career in finance with positions at American Express and Protective Life’s GIC Subsidiary. In 1993, Mr. Dondero decided to start his own investment firm, he named it “Highland Capital Management, L.P.”. The company specializes in collateralized loan obligations, credit hedge funds, distressed and special situations private equity and long-only funds among other things.
