Although actors Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire have already turned in good performances portraying Peter Parker/Spider-Man in full-length feature films, the superhero’s co-creator says it is Tom Holland, who is currently starring as Spider-Man, who best-exemplifies the way he envisioned the character.
According to a recent article on the Screen Rant website, Stan Lee, the co-creator of Spider-Man sent out a tweet yesterday saying that the superhero was never meant to be physically large in size, and that Tom Holland is exactly the right age and height to play the part.
Tom Holland is only 21 years old, but he has handled the pressure of starring in three high-profile, feature films very well. While his predecessor’s performances in the role are indeed quite excellent, Holland’s youthful sensibility adds another dimension to the character.
Mr. Holland’s portrayal of Spider-Man debuted on the big screen in 2016’s Captain America : Civil War film. In 2017, Holland starred in the Spider-Man: Homecoming movie, and he is now starring in the Avengers: Infinity War film. In this Avengers film, Spider-Man and a host of other super heroes join together to save the universe from doom and destruction.
All of the Spider-Man movies are very popular with fans, and Tom Holland’s performances as the webbed superhero have been very well-received by the movie-going public. A very talented actor, Mr. Holland consistently displays a sensibility that belies his chronological age.
While it certainly is an honor for the legendary comic book writer and publisher Stan Lee to praise the choice of actor to portray his character, Mr. Lee has also praised the work of Garfield and Maguire in their roles as Spider-Man.
