Does a Definitive Zack Snyder Cut of Justice League Exist?

Spinning the disastrous box office of Warner Bros. and DC Entertainment’s Justice League film cannot be done with any credibility. The film failed to connect with audiences and critics. The departure of director Zack Snyder due to a personal crisis has been blamed for some of the film’s failure. Replacing a director doesn’t usually lead to the creation of a well-crafted finished film. Rumors recently emerged that Snyder did shoot enough footage that his version of the film could be edited and released on home video. Warner Bros., however, has zero interest in releasing the Zack Snyder cut of a film ultimately completed by Joss Whedon.

Warner Bros. noted that significant special effects work, editing, and sound mixing would be required to release the Zack Snyder cut in an acceptable version. Since the theatrical version of the film failed to break even, Warner Bros. doubtfully wishes to spend millions upon millions of dollars on a DVD/Blu-ray that won’t make its extra costs back.

Interestingly, rumors recently emerged that a far more complete version of the Snyder cut does exist. If this version didn’t require editing or mixing, then releasing it wouldn’t come with added cost. Don’t look for Warner Bros. to release such a DVD even if Snyder’s cut truly is a complete version. Warner Bros. and DC Entertainment want to put the disastrous release of Justice League back into the past. Releasing a better version of the official one simply draws more attention to the current cinematic woes facing heroes of DC Comics. DC Entertainment and Warner Bros. need Aquaman, Shazam!, and Wonder Woman 2 to perform quite well at the box office. Anything that reminds fans that Warner and DC Entertainment delivers duds doesn’t help the cause.

That said, the Zack Snyder cut may eventually be released in the future. However, that time could be many years away.

Portion of Shymalan’s New Film Gets Thumbs Up From Distributors

The career of film director M. Night Shymalan has taken a steep drop since his groundbreaking movie, The Sixth Sense, helped establish him in the movie business. While he’s been able to make some critically-acclaimed features since then, including Split and The Visit, his ability to have more major studios offer him the opportunity to make high-budget features remains in question.

Shymalan attempted to mine some additional goodwill from The Sixth Sense by making a film entitled, Unbreakable, which again starred Bruce Willis. This was expected to set the stage for additional sequels down the road. Instead, a lukewarm box office for this project resulted in the prospect of follow-up movies disappearing.

Quality has never been Shymalan’s problem when it comes to connecting with certain audiences or critics. The problem has stemmed from gaining attention from wider audiences, which he hopes to do with his new film, Glass. The movie attempts to merge characters from Unbreakable with those from Split, with some of the early buzz seen as a definite positive.

Shymalan himself took to social media to point out the fact that he showed 12 minutes of the still-unreleased film to distributors for both Universal and Walt Disney. In the latter case, Disney’s knowledge of the international marketplace is expected to provide major benefits when it comes to being able to bring in audiences.

The comic book aspects of Glass figure to garner attention from one of the industry’s most integral demographics: young people. While a quality film and that particular market seem to be a match made in heaven, some studio executives may be reluctant to work with Shymalan until the results come through. Yet a mere 12 minutes of the film was enough to impress people that are just as important to the future of his career.

Cyborg and Aquaman Get Posters Ahead of Blu-Ray Release

As Justice League gears up for release on home media, the movie’s official Instagram account has released movie posters for Aquaman (played by Jason Momoa) and Cyborg (played by Ray Fisher).

The Justice League Blu-Ray is being released on March 13, 2019, only a few months after its theatrical release last November. This may be because the film barely made back its $300 million budget; Warner Bros. may be hoping to hype up its home releases in order to make back its money and get the DC Extended Universe franchise back on track.

The posters both use a minimalist design where a silhouette of the character contains a visually interesting picture. In Aquaman’s, the King of the Sea can be seen standing waist-deep in the water at night, with sea and sky both bathed in a pretty but eerie green. Cyborg’s strikes a similar somber mood, but uses purple in what seems to be a wrecked city, with the shape of Parademons (monstrous minions of the villain Steppenwolf) flying in to attack him.

Compared to co-stars Superman, Wonder Woman, Batman and Flash, these two Leaguers are less well-known. Momoa’s portrayal of Aquaman was seen by many as a standout performance of a somewhat jerkish but fun character who has fun fighting against evil. Fisher’s Cyborg is somewhat more divisive—some note that he seems oddly somber compared to his boisterous comic book and cartoon counterpart—but nevertheless earned fans.

Aside from hyping up the Justice League Blu-Ray release, Aquaman’s poster could be seen as an endorsement for his upcoming solo film, which will be released on December 21 of this year. Cyborg is a bit of a mystery, however; his film has been announced, but seems to be off its upcoming slate.

“Farewell” says Paul Simon

On January 30, 2018, Paul Simon announced his “Farewell” performance to take place on the final night of the British Summer Time festival on July 15, 2018. Simon plans to perform in a familiar location for his career finale as Hyde Park in London has heard his tunes before. So far, fellow 1960s and 1970s music performer James Taylor is slated to perform before Simon’s performance. The announcement of other performers will take place on the day tickets become available—February 2, 2018.

Though the show is billed as a “Farewell” performance, it is not clear if Simon means the performance to be his last touring performance or to mean he is retiring from the music scene altogether. After seven decades in the music industry, Simon has shown an inclination to quit the business. In 2016 when he indicated in a New York Times interview that showbiz no longer interested him.

Paul Simon’ career boomed after the duo of Simon & Garfunkel produced the soundtrack of the blockbuster film The Graduate. In 1970, Simon split with Garfunkel to perform in solo settings. Simon is enrolled in the Rock n’ Roll Hall of Fame as a solo performer.

Fellow 1970s performer, James Taylor, is a singer-songwriter that mirrored the sense of loss that dominated the 1960s. His emotionally charged music appeals to an audience across the social spectrum. The winner of six Grammy Awards, James Taylor is still a force to be reckoned with in the music world.

Together, Simon and Taylor created and explored the mysticism behind the 60s movement. From sublime metaphors to outright statements, the two singer-songwriters have influenced the exploration of music in the pop culture, creating movements within the movement promoting peaceful thought and equality for all.

The performance on July 15, 2018, will close the 2018 British Summer Festival with a flourish. Hyde Park can hold up to 150,000 people, and the bets are that the tickets will sell out in February.

John Legend Cast as Jesus for the Jesus Christ Superstar Live Concert

Famous musician, John Legend is expected to play Jesus in Jesus Christ Superstar Live Concert! in the Easter Sunday production of the famous Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice play. Alice Cooper will be playing King Herod. The play will be directed by British director, David Leveaux. Up to this point, Legend has released five albums, his most famous so far being Get Lifted! He has also appeared on Soul Men, Underground, and Curb Your Enthusiasm. He has also worked with Plat on La La Land.

Aside from Jesus Christ Superstar, NBC has also done The Sound of Music, Peter Pan, and The Wiz as live musicals. The original Broadway version of Jesus Christ Superstar with Jeff Fenholt as Jesus began in 1971, ran until mid-1973 and saw over 700 performances. The show airs on television on Easter Sunday, which is April 1st.

Legend has stated that he’s overjoyed to be a part of the cast. He has also stated that with him in the production that he’s sure that the story will be done more justice. From what Robert Greenblat, Chair of NBC Entertainment has stated, the role of Jesus in Jesus Christ Superstar demands an actor with a wide vocal range, which Legend does have a talent for. Another reason that Legend’s casting is ground-breaking is that it will also break the traditional image of Jesus as a man with light skin and light brown long hair.

It’s not known what the real Jesus actually looked like since people didn’t leave much in the way of portraits back in that time. However, some scholars believe that it’s likely that Jesus had olive skin and very dark hair. As devout Christians like to reinforce, however, it’s not Jesus’ physical image that matters in the end but rather what he did for humanity that does.
